Dr. Schecter’s Approach

Dr. Harvey J. Schecter is a board certified family practice physician as well as a leader in acupuncture treatments in the Atlanta area. He brings over 40 years of experience, physician training and clinical knowledge allowing him to add both the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of acupuncture. Combining his knowledge of Osteopathic medicine with his expertise in acupuncture allows him to understand the relation of the body’s structure to function. While most other acupuncturists use a 10 treatment trial to test the effectiveness of acupuncture, Dr Schecter uses a 3 treatment trial. This allows him to provide the quickest, most effective care to each patient. Dr. Schecter also treats his patients based on his extensive knowledge, using single needle techniques and electric acupuncture which provides better results that purely manual methods, pressure or lasers.

Bringing Atlanta this well respected treatment modality, Dr. Schecter was invited to formulate in Georgia the acupuncture regulations for the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners. Founder of Total Care in Lilburn is a Board Certified Family Physician. Dr. Schecter earned his undergraduate degree at Temple University and his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.).
