I am Dr. Anna Sikod, a Cameroonian-American Physician living in Gwinnett County for 10 years. I completed medical school in 2007 at University of Calabar, Nigeria. I worked in Nigeria at a trauma center right after school as a general practitioner for less than a year and then moved back to Cameroon to work at the Baptist Mission Hospital. There I gained outpatient and inpatient training in the village community taking care of people of all ages including pregnant patients.
By 2009, I moved to Atlanta with my family.  My husband and I decided to expand our family while I took my physician licensing board exams.  I completed a family medicine training at Morehouse and started working as a Hospitalist in 2017.
With many years of outpatient and hospital experience, I look forward to making a great addition to Dr. Mayfield’s clinic serving the local community.

Dr. Mayfield’s career has spanned 3 decades. Dr. Mayfield has treated tens of thousands of patients around the Atlanta area.

An Atlanta native, Dr. Mayfield began his fascination with the study of the human body as a pre-med/pre-dent major at the University of Georgia. After suffering sports injuries in high school, Dr. Mayfield was treated by a Chiropractor, which led him to his professional career in Chiropractic. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1976. Dr. Mayfield received his Georgia license in April of 1977.

Dr. Mayfield’s goal as a physician has been to provide his patients with the highest level of care through the use of his extensive diagnostic and treatment knowledge. He continues to treat a wide variety of cases specializing in the treatment of lower back pain, slipped or herniated discs, sciatica, failed back surgeries, headaches, neck pain, and arm pain.

Dr. Mayfield feels very strongly, that no person should elect back surgery without trying all conservative treatment available. Dr. Mayfield has successfully treated thousands of patients that were scheduled for back surgery. In his 35 years of experience, Dr. Mayfield estimates 95% of all lower back pain (lumbar disc involved) cases can be successfully treated without surgery.

15 years ago Dr. Mayfield realized that many of his patients were dissatisfied with their medical doctors. The patients were being treated like numbers with conditions rather than individuals. The medical doctors were not listening to their complaints and their bedside manner was poor.

After hearing these complaints over and over again, Dr. Mayfield decided to integrate his practice to include medical doctors. The office then offered laboratory diagnosis and medical examinations and treatment. Now his patients have a medical doctor that listens, promotes wellness care, and handles their medical needs with a courteous friendly bedside manner.

Dr. Mayfield has been active in the Georgia Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, and in 1994, was elected to the International Chiropractic Knights of the Roundtable. Dr. Mayfield is presently the Chairman of the International Chiropractic Knights of the Roundtable.

When not at his office caring for patients, you will find Dr. Mayfield playing golf, sitting on the beach, traveling, or enjoying time with his family (his wife Jori, daughters Melanie and Cheney, sons Joe and Chris, and his grandson Bash).

Born and raised in the Atlanta area, Dr. Cheney Brinkley began working with her father, Dr. Mayfield at a young age, helping out at the front desk at Mayfield Chiropractic Center. She fell in love with the chiropractic profession and realized the amazing potential chiropractic has to help various people in the community. After seriously injuring herself in high school during a softball game, chiropractic was obviously the first place she turned when different doctors told her she would need back surgery for the three herniation’s she had acquired. Her love for the profession led her to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida, where she recently graduated third in her class in March of 2016.

During school, Dr. Cheney focused on learning as much as she could about the human body and how it can be treated with chiropractic care. During the last two years of school, she found her niche with pediatrics and pregnancy. She loves working with small children through the high school years. She believes if we can start children off on the right foot with chiropractic, they will function and have a healthier lifestyle and development. Also, working directly with pregnant women before, during, and after their birth has become such a passion for Dr. Cheney.

Dr. Cheney decided she wanted to learn as much as she could to help her patients out and to give well-rounded care, she became a birth doula through DONA International. She believes the birth process can be whatever the mother wants and believes they can achieve the mother and partner’s goals for their experience together! She also recently became certified as a HypnoBirthing Practitioner, also known as the The Mongan Method. She believes that birthing can and should be gentle and empowering for the mother and their partner.

Dr. Cheney Brinkley is an active member in the ICPA, which is the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, The Georgia Birth Network, Certified in Webster Technique.

When she is not in the office treating patients, Dr. Cheney is kickboxing, enjoying living in downtown Atlanta, traveling with friends, or volunteering with her church community
